A New Chapter in Campus-Enterprise Synergy | GDOU Visit Handyware to Drive Innovation

On December 29, 2025, a delegation of faculty members and students from Guangdong Ocean University visited Handyware Group for an in-depth exchange activity.

The senior management team of Handyware Group gathered with Professor Liu Shucheng, Dean of the College of Food Science and Technology; Mr. Luo Zhiyong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Associate Dean Fan Xiuping; and faculty and student representatives. Through on-site visits, roundtable discussions, and signing and unveiling ceremonies, both parties jointly advanced their cooperation into a new phase of deeper integration and coordinated development.

1,Immersive Experience: Students Visit Handyware Laboratories

As a highlight of the visit, faculty and students from the College of Food Science and Technology were invited to tour Handyware’s laboratories. Participants included recipients of the “Handyware Scholarship” from previous years, as well as master’s and doctoral students from African countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.

Handyware’s R&D team demonstrated a range of precision instruments and equipment, and provided a systematic introduction to the full process from concept development to R&D implementation. One participating student commented, “This visit gave me a much more intuitive understanding of the food industry and helped clarify my future career direction.”

2,In-Depth Dialogue: Mapping a Long-Term Development Blueprint

Mr. Peter Tan, CEO of Handyware Group, delivered the opening speech at the university–industry cooperation forum. He shared, “I was once a scholarship recipient myself. Financial support enabled me to complete my studies, and I have always been grateful and committed to giving back to society. The establishment of the Handyware Scholarship is a fulfillment of that promise.”He encouraged students to carry this goodwill forward and emphasized that university–industry collaboration is a key pathway for talent development. “Through platforms such as our graduate internship programs, we look forward to working closely with universities to transform cutting-edge research into outcomes with real value and social impact, helping students bridge the gap between theory and practice,” he added.

From the university’s perspective, Dean Liu Shucheng further elaborated on the approach and vision for integrating industry and education. Leveraging this collaboration, the College will advance joint curriculum development and collaborative research aligned with real industrial needs, systematically enhancing students’ ability to tackle real-world challenges and solve practical problems.

During subsequent discussions, both parties engaged in pragmatic exchanges on talent training mechanisms, research collaboration directions, and the linkage between internships and employment, further clarifying pathways for resource sharing and joint project advancement.

3,Signing and Unveiling: Building New Platforms for Collaboration

A key milestone of the event was the signing and unveiling of the “Industry–Science–Education Integration Practice Base” and the “Graduate Internship and Employment Base,” along with the renewal of the Handyware Scholarship agreement. Established in 2023, the scholarship aims to support academically diligent and high-performing students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. Its renewal marks a transition from one-way financial support to a systematic, comprehensive talent co-development model.
The establishment of these bases will provide Guangdong Ocean University students with a structured and practical internship platform, enabling them to develop professional skills in real working environments. At the same time, Handyware Group will be able to cultivate and recruit specialized talent more effectively, achieving a mutually beneficial outcome.

4, Looking Ahead: A New Chapter in University–Industry Collaboration

This in-depth exchange further strengthened mutual trust and friendship, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation and win-win development. With the implementation of the three agreements, collaboration between Handyware Group and Guangdong Ocean University will continue to deepen, jointly cultivating high-caliber professionals aligned with the evolving needs of the food industry and injecting new momentum into industry development.
